Judge voids Genarlow Wilson's 10-year prison term

Clicking on the AP logo below will open a video of the courtroom saga.

UPDATE: I've just learned that the prosecution in this case has filed an appeal blocking Mr. Wilson's release. Someone please tell me where the justice is in doing such a thing.

I am so happy to see that common sesne has prevailed in this case. What a tragedy that this kid had to endure two years in a Georgia state prison for simply being a teenager. Read the Genarlow Wilson story HERE

ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- A judge in Monroe County, Georgia, ruled Monday that a 21-year-old should be released from a 10-year prison sentence he has been serving for a consensual sexual encounter he had as a teenager.

Monroe Superior Court Judge Thomas H. Wilson voided the sentence against Genarlow Wilson, who has been imprisoned for more than two years after his conviction for a sex act with a 15-year-old girl.

He was 17 at the time.

Going after "predators" that are only 2 years older than the "prey" is bullshit. Especially when the so called "predator" is only 17. He should never have gone to jail in the first place. These laws are intended on catching the 40 and 50 year olds who prey on young teens, not teens who have a sex drive like normal.

I also agreed that this was a big bunch of crap and a case about teens being arrested for doing what teens do.
What isn't being mentioned out loud is that the consensual sex was also unconsentially filmed by the 17 year old.

anon...I read somewhere that the filming was consensual as well. One of the original stories has that line in it.
