Shooting involving deputy kills Mobile teen in drug probe
MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -- An 18-year-old Mobile man was shot and killed Thursday afternoon during an apparent undercover drug investigation involving a Mobile County sheriff's deputy.
Officers at the scene told the Press-Register that the deputy, who was not immediately identified, fired his weapon. Family members identified the victim as Robert Lucas.
Police officials were expected to release details on the shooting at a news conference later.
Officers swarmed into the north Mobile neighborhood to control a large angry crowd of people gathered at the scene of the 1:30 p.m. shooting in the Josephine Allen public housing community off Telegraph Road.
