Huntsville Police Officers Suspended for Drugs, Gun

WAAY TV in Huntsville is reporting that two North Precinct officers have been suspended with pay for allegedly planting drugs inside peoples cars and also for having a fire arm with the serial number filed off.

WAAY is also reporting that this misconduct was reported to their supervisor by other officers but was ignored. So the reporting officers went directly to internal affairs and to the media.

I don't usually have anything good to say about cops....but I certainly appreciate the efforts of the ones who blew the whistle. They need a medal.

I was going to e-mail you on this, but was too slow on the trigger. Notice how when some poor schlub (like Lee) gets nailed, they immediately release the name, but we still don't know who the cops are? A paranoid type would believe there is a double standard.

Indeed!

I got so tickled last week when the McIntosh Police Chief said the media's coverage of his sons attack on an unarmed, compliant driver was character assassination. I guess he musta never watched "COPS" or "Worlds Stupidest Criminals".

Things really oughta be the other way around. Cops should get their names in the paper for misconduct and the average citizen ought to be able to have their name with-held on some crimes, until proven guilty.

It is encouraging that these corrupt cops were turned in by thier peers. I moved to huntsville last year from pg county md where all the cops are corrupt but the one good thing there is they don't arrest people for cannabis possesion. The police I've encountered here seem laid back so far. They already seem to have more integraty than most police forces in this country.
