Nationalist? Socialist? Or National Socialist?

I've been watching the political convention circus since last week when the Democrats led out and finished up last night after the introduction of Sarah Palin to America. I won't be watching tonight. I simply can't take one more viewing of John McCain sticking his thumbs out like Fonzie from Happy Days.

See what I mean? It's just too much!

It seems after watching most of both conventions that citizen's have only one choice in this country when it comes to voting.

You can vote for the Socialist Party (Democrats), which wants the government to control everything. But, in a 'nice' socialist sort of way. They love them some big government do the Democrats. What I fail to understand is why they think they can have this huge government yet still protect the individual rights and liberties of the citizens. I don't want the government in charge of my healthcare. Skip on down to your local VA hospital if you want to know why socialized medicine is a bad idea. I don't want the government in charge of educating the youth of this country. All they are turning out is a bunch of lemming statists who know nothing about the real history of this country or even what the Constitution says or means. A government that controls everything teaches people to be dependent on it....unable to care for themselves. We saw this play out in the saddest and most embarassing way after Hurricane Katrina. So, I'll pass if it's all the same to you.

Then we have the Nationalist Party (Republicans) and they want to make war with every other country on earth it seems. They love them some big government too, though to hear them talk you'd think otherwise. The last 8 years should dispel any myths about that. Watching those scary, bible-thumping, war mongering bastards in St. Paul this week I seriously considered moving to China. I mean honestly...it couldn't be any worse could it? Everywhere you looked were the words "Country First" and "Service". Well, bump that. I'll decide what comes first in my life and the lives of my children. I'll serve, or not, at my own leisure. I'll believe in whatever god or gods I want...or none if it suits me. I certainly don't need Jesus waving an American flag crammed down my throat by a bunch of people who don't lead the life of the man they claim to hold above all else (except Country).

I found it repulsive that Guiliani and then Palin took swipes at community organizers. Without community organizers women still probably wouldn't be allowed to vote, much less run for VP of this country. Hell, just last week right before they picked Palin for the VP most Nationalists (Republicans) thought the proper place for women was barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen. To take the national stage and ridicule those who are in large part responsible for the very fact that you have a national stage defies all logic. Wadda Bitch! And not a very smart one either. She believes God sent us to Iraq and asked ministry students to pray for a $30 billion Alaskan pipeline. And to top it all she said the following about 'Under God' in the Pledge:
"If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I’ll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance."

Uh, the founding fathers didn't write the pledge of Allegiance. The writers of the Pledge of Allegiance didn't include the words 'Under God'.

If you are going to run for VP then it is best to know just a tad about the history of the country you will be one heart beat away from running (God forbid)....isn't it?

In short both major political parties SUCK! They pretend to be against each other....but behind closed doors they are the same. A vote for one is no better or worse than a vote for the other because either way what you wind up with is the National Socialist Party. Now, where have you heard that before?

I agree with you on most issues...not this time.

"...At a time when America’s estrangement from the world risks tipping into dangerous imbalance, when a country at war with lethal enemies is also increasingly at war with itself, when humankind’s spiritual yearnings veer between an excess of certainty and an inability to believe anything at all, and when sectarian and racial divides seem as intractable as ever, a man who is a bridge between these worlds may be indispensable.

We may in fact have finally found that bridge to the 21st century that Bill Clinton told us about. Its name is Obama."

Obama is not the answer. He is a cloud without water, a cloud who appears to be the image of whatever is in the eye of the beholder. A young pup who was taken by the hand and put on a pedestal by his state senate mentor.

Ron Paul is the answer.

I am very disillusioned Will....very disillusioned. Between the two camps I lean much more towards Obama....especially after watching the hate filled, war-mongering GOP convention. Of course I never had any intention of voting for McCain. I've had enough fake Republican government to last me a life time plus ten more. They are anti-freedom and pro-police state. I related much more to the people I saw at the Democratic convention than with anyone I saw at the Republican convention. I also relate more to Obama's community organizing background than to John McCain's war hero background. Truth is I really like Obama.

If Obama manages to get a comfortable enough lead between now and November then I will be voting my conscience and voting for Bob Barr. If it is neck in neck like it is now then I will cast my vote for Obama because I will do whatever I can within my power to get the Republicans OUT of the White House.

Loretta, you're right about the two parties, though. Our government is broken. But the recent pick of Sportscaster Palin by McCain shows just how cynical and unserious he is about the future of our country.
