Free Marc Emery Rally Birmingham, Alabama

Yesterday on September 19, 2009 cannabis activists rallied in cities all over the world in support of The Prince of Pot Marc Emery who will be extradited to the US on September 28, 2009 to be sentenced to a minimum of 5 years in a US Federal prison for selling pot seeds from Canada.

Make sense to you? No? Well, it doesn't make sense to us either.

Marc Emery will be a political prisoner.

Here is video from yesterday's protest in Birmingham. The weather was horrid. Pouring rain and 9000% humidity. Many, many thanks to the dedicated activists who didn't let a little rain stop them from being heard. The two songs I used in this video have special meaning to Marc and me. Every time I used to visit him in Canada he would pick me up from the airport and he would play "We Are the Champions" on the way back to his place.

Maybe the weather will cooperate next time. I'm actually thinking about holding another one this coming weekend if the weather is better. A lot of people planned to come but were unable to because of flooding in their part of the state. I'll post on the blog if we do a round two.

I'm going to write Obama and Eric Holder to complain about my tax dollars being used to incarcerate this Canadian drug kigpin. We must put pressure on Canada to do their part in this drug war and take care of their own offenders.
I'll feel much safer once he's behind bars. But I'm sure another cartel, perhaps even more violent, will just move in and take his place.

Marc Emery is not a drug King Pen. I feel safer with him free to stand up to what ever governmental powers he has to in order to fight for everyone's right to make their own decisions about their own health care and well being.

As an American I thank Marc for standing up to his own, as well as foreign Governments, who aim to oppress. As a man I respect him for facing his repercussions head own, and apologizing to no one for doing what he knew was right. And as a recreational Marijuana user I thank Marc for sinking millions of dollars into anti-prohibition efforts, which have lessened the consequences of simple possession. God Bless Marc Emery,

Big Somoan,

I was being sarcastic.
I guess I wont be writing for the Daily Show anytime soon.

Now see the Onion was confusing to me at first to. I seem to have trouble noticing sarcasm over text.

Amazing. I love the video as well as the songs.

The only problem is I wish I would have known about this event so that I would have been able to attend.

Alabama does not have a NORML Chapter, which is saddening. I'm sure to visit the NORML website 6-7 times a week in order to keep up with Marijuana news; however, I rarely read anything pertaining to Alabama.

What will it take to get Alabama up to the level of California, Colorado, Illinois, etc...?

Btw, fwiw, I see California legalizing the adult use of Marijuana by the end of 2012, maybe sooner if they're lucky.

Also, can i get an email or some other way of contacting you Loretta?

I have a few more detailed questions to ask you. Thanks in advance.

Hey Cory,

We did recently start a NORML chapter here in AL. I am on the board of advisers. NORML has a page on FaceBook and Myspace I believe. The guys who are running it are Thomas Pearson and Travis Petta. We also have a Compassionate Care group working to pass medical marijuana legislation. Look us up on Facebook. Please feel free to email me at lorettanall@gmail.com with other questions and thanks for your comment and your desire to be involved. We'd love to have you.

There is not an Alabama chapter on the NORML website. Maybe too new?
Does the Alabama chapter have a website?

sixstring....As far as I am aware Alabama NORML is using facebook and myspace for their website. I don't know if they have plans yet to build a separate one. I'll find out. I think they are also still waiting on paperwork to be completed by the Secretary of State's office.
